Let’s Visit Key West, Florida
If you love the beach like I do – then you have to check out Key West. The southernmost point in the USA! Key West is expensive. Between the flights, hotel, and food, you are easily looking at spending at least $4,000.
So pack your bikini’s; we are headed to the southernmost point in the United States.
Typically, whenever I travel I’ll prep my vacation by breaking it down into days and deciding what to do on what day. But you don’t have to do that in Key West.
Key West is soooo chill. Like that Island Time is real in Key West. It’s hot, relaxing and a good time. My hubby and I went to Key West for 1 week for our 1 year anniversary in August.
Here’s what we did and how we did it!
Key West Butterfly and Nature Observatory
This place is so stinking cute. Open from 9am – 5:30pm and only costs $15 to enter you can walk among hundreds of living Butterflies and Colorful Birds. Perfect place to go with family and young ones. To purchase tickets visit here.
African Cemetery at Higgs Beach
The African Cemetery at Higgs Beach is a cemetery in Key West where 294 of 1,342 Africans died in the first few months after being rescued in 1860 from captured slave ships. This is one of the very few places in the USA where slaves where commemorated. This is a free monument and is open to the public.

The Hemingway Home and Museum

Fury Cat – Snorkeling, Jet Ski, Parasail
Fury Cat was the highlight of my trip. If you like water adventures and a fun family sun day you have to check out Fury Cat. If you visit Fury Cat’s Website there are so many options from snorkeling tours to sunset cruises. We did the Ultimate Adventure H20 which is a snorkeling, jet ski, paraskil and banana boat package, lunch and drinks package all for $179 per person. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Other Fun Activities
Ghosts and Gravestones – Key West Ghost Tour
Walk Duval Street (Key West’s downtown area 1.25 miles long)
Nightlife
- There’s tons of bars, strip clubs, restaurants and small boutiques all down Duval Street
FOOOOOODDD!
- My favorite food moments was eating Key Lime pie at Blue Haven, Garlo’s Grill Taco Food Truck.
If you want more details check out this link – that takes you to Presh Eats.
- We stayed at the Hampton Inn Key West – which is on the other side of Key West and is about 15 mins from Duval Street. The way Key West is set up is that on one side of the island near the airport are the hotels – on the other side is the residential area, and a couple of very luxurious resorts, as well as restaurants and shops. If I could do it again – I would stay in the Hilton Casa Marina Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. It’s very expensive starting at $500 a night but the resort itself is so beautiful with its on private beach. Also you don’t really need a car – I would rent a moped or scooter/ bike to get around the island. You have to pay a crap ton for parking.
I would probably spend only 4 days in Key West. It’s such a chill and small island that you can do most of the sightseeing in about 2 days and the other 2 days for beach activities.
